چکیده
Objective: To determine the clinical, functional and radiological outcome of unstable intertrochanteric femur fractures treated with proximal nailMethods: The study is a prospective on 20 patients to analyse nail conducted in Department Orthopedics at Stanley medical college, Chennai from June 2018 August 2020. Functional was assessed using Harris hip score. Results: fracture were surgically results functionally radiologically analysed. Patients followed up 11months 22 months mean follow 15.9 ± 2.73. Mean space 3months 73.85 3.4, score 6months 85.15 2.66. Radiological Fracture union noted between 12-16 weeks time for 12.90 1.4 weeksConclusion: Intramedullary nailing PFN has distinct advantages over DHS like shorter operating lesser blood loss trochanteric fractures. Early mobilization weight bearing allowed thereby decreasing incidence bedsores, uraemia hypostatic pneumonia. pre-operative postoperative planning correct technique, adequate reaming femoral canal, insertion by hand meticulous placement distal locking screws. significant advancement treatment which unique advantage closed reduction, preservation haematoma, less tissue damage during surgery, early rehabilitation return work.

Treatment of Unstable Trochanteric Femur Fractures: Proximal Femur Nail Versus Proximal Femur Locking Compression Plate.
Unstable trochanteric femur fractures are common fractures that are difficult to manage. We conducted a prospective study to compare functional outcomes and complications of 2 different implant designs, proximal femur nail (PFN) and proximal femur locking compression plate (PFLCP), used in internal fixation of unstable trochanteric femur fractures. On hospital admission, 48 patients with unstab...
متن کاملIntertrochanteric Femur Fracture Stability
INTRODUCTION Intertrochanteric (IT) femur fractures are common in elderly patients who are often in poor general health. Intertrochanteric fractures are classified as stable or unstable, taking into account fracture morphology and involvement of the posteromedial calcar. The purpose of this study is to determine whether IT fracture stability can be used as a marker for general health or as a pr...
متن کاملA Study of twenty consecutive case of unstable Intertrochanteric fracture treated with long Proximal Femoral Nail: A Clinical outcome
Intertrochanteric fractures are injuries that affect both the elderly and young individuals. In young individuals injury results from high energy trauma and in elderly individuals usually fractures are 1 of osteoporotic bone ,resulting from trivial trauma. Intertrochanteric fractures are more common in elderly females. Elderly people with low bone mineral density are prone for 2 unstable fractu...
متن کاملUnstable intertrochanteric fractures of the femur.
We conducted a prospective randomised trial to compare the results of anatomical reduction and medial displacement osteotomy in 127 consecutive patients with unstable intertrochanteric fractures, of whom 109 completed the study. After an average follow-up of 1 1 months, we found no significant differences in walking ability, social status or failure of fixation in the two groups. Postoperative ...
متن کاملManagement of Subtrochanteric Fracture Femur by Proximal Femoral Nail
Background: Subtrochanteric fractures of the femur remain some of the most challenging fractures faced by orthopaedic surgeons. Most of the fractures in the elderly results from trivial fall from standing or while walking, whereas in the younger age group it is mainly due to road traffic accidents. Closed management of these subtrochanteric fractures poses difficulties in obtaining and maintain...
